It is very clear that the e107/SMF bridge is broken

It is very clear that the e107/SMF bridge is broken. I'll look into fixing it tomorrow. Logins should be automatic then.

I'm cleaning up and trying to harden the site a bit

I'm cleaning up and trying to harden the site a bit. Forums will be back up in the next day or so. Hopefully the steps I actually bother taking this time around will prevent this again in the future.

I also plan to do some behind the scenes reorganizing to actually get the volition watch archives up within the next few weeks. Isn't summer break wonderful?

UPDATE: Forums will be back as soon as rsync is done.

Admins, Approval, Instant Availability, and Volition Watch Archives

Admins

Admins
I've added a new admin to help out when I'm not around. Classloads have become a serious issue for me, so if you have any issues you can now contact Hades. Either PM him here or e-mail him at [email protected]

I'm still looking for more help so if you're interested, drop me a line.

Approval
Automatic-approval of files has been disabled. I basically had to do this because the trigger plugin I had used no longer functions properly with the current version of e107. I may try to go in and fix it myself, but moderated-approval for files in the main database may be a much neater system. Just go ahead and upload whatever you intend to, and either me or Hades will get around to approving as quickly as possible.

Instant Availabilty
While I highly doubt I'm going to end up competing with mediafire and the like, I'm going to throw up a nice little instant-availability solution with the option of flagging for addition to the main database.

Volition Watch Archives
I am in the tedious process of finding a quick way to sort through and add all of the VWA material to the fsmods database. There will be a huge volume of campaigns, missions and mods to sort through, and tons of quality control to do. It should be up soon though.

Upload Issues

Upload Issues
I do intend to address the issues with uploading files by the beginning of next week. I should also get around to re-implementing the solution for uploading large files that was in place beforehand, or implementing something a bit better. Some of you may have tried to upload files larger than ~90MB and hit my host's memory limit for PHP uploads. The only way around this is to use something other than PHP. Don't fret if you need something uploaded though. Just drop me a line at [email protected] and include the file you want placed in the downloads section with the details you want accompanying it. This situation should be temporary.
UPDATE: Uploads up to 90MB in size should now work, larger uploads should be enabled soon.

SVN User Creation
It turns out I have been lying to all of you using SVN! You actually can create users yourselves. When I actually decided to spend ~2 minutes playing with the SVN configuration files I stumbled upon the issue I had forgotten about in my last attempt to create an SVN user. I forgot an encrypted password is required in this SVN setup. So, in order to create SVN users yourselves you simply need to edit the .access and .passwd files located in /home/user/svn/ to the format you can quite easily determine with the other entries. To generate the encrypted password for the .passwd entry, just use this perl script:
perl -e '$pass="lookapassword"; print crypt($pass, $pass);'
Replace "lookapassword" with your password for that user of course.
If you need more information, contact me.

CMS Replacement
I have every intention of replacing e107 with a more secure and well-rounded solution as soon as possible. At the moment I'm targeting drupal. More news should surface on this frequently floundering issue in the coming month.

Forum
I am a person who prefers SMF over PHPBB. The only reason I ever used PHPBB for this site is because the forum included in e107 was pretty horrible, and I could only find a suitable bridge for PHPBB. Expect a shift to SMF as soon as possible.
UPDATE: SMF time

Is this update over?
Yes it is.

A huge exploit was discovered in e107 over the past weekend, and fsmods was one of the sites to be hit with the exploit. My host was kind enough to disable the site to prevent any further damage.

Everything is cleaned up now, and I'm switching to drupal. Assuming it works well enough. It's not looking like hierarchical sites are its specialty.

Uploads are re-enabled. It looks like it's going to take more time than I thought to wrangle Drupal to do my work. Life loves getting in the way.

If you are receiving malware warnings, this is due to an issue that arose during my sites move to a different server

If you are receiving malware warnings, this is due to an issue that arose during my sites move to a different server. The offending files have been cleaned up, and I have requested a site review from Google. Hopefully this mess will be cleared up soon.

A little time.

It's been quite a while since I've made any kind of news post

It's been quite a while since I've made any kind of news post. School and work are really dragging my attention away from my online activities for now. Hopefully after finals next week I'll be able to do a little work around here. This will involve resolving forum issues, cleaning up the downloads section, and possibly switching to another CMS. Only time will tell.

If you have any suggestions or comments on what should be done, or needs to be done, please feel free to make a post in the support section of the forums.
